Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 16, 2026
SoonSpot ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the SoonSpot mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Tips and submissions: When you submit a tip or update about a business, we collect the content of that submission along with any email address or photos you choose to include.
- Communications: If you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
We also automatically collect certain information when you use our Service:
- Device information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage data: Pages or screens viewed, time spent, links clicked, and other actions taken within the Service.
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your device location to show you nearby spots and to help place a submitted tip at the correct address. Android lets you choose between precise and approximate location when you grant permission, and either works — precise gives more accurate results. Location is used only at the moment you request it. We do not track you in the background and we do not store location history. If you submit a tip, the address and coordinates you confirm are stored as part of that tip.
- Push notification tokens: If you opt into push notifications, we store a device token to deliver notifications about spots you follow.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Send push notifications about spots you follow (only with your explicit permission)
- Respond to your comments, questions, and requests
- Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the experience
- Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
- Comply with legal obligations
Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party providers including Supabase (database), Expo (app infrastructure), Firebase (push notifications), Firebase Analytics (usage analytics), Mapbox (maps), and Google Maps Platform (address lookup and geocoding). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: If SoonSpot is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Data Retention & Deletion
SoonSpot does not require an account to use. You are identified only by an anonymous device identifier generated on your device. We retain the information we collect for as long as necessary to provide the Service.
How to request deletion of your SoonSpot data: Email hello@soonspot.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." So we can locate your data, please send your request from the email address you used when submitting a tip, or describe the tips you submitted (approximate date, business name, or town). We will process your request within 30 days.
Data that is deleted upon request: any tips or business updates you submitted, along with any email address or photos included with them; your device identifier; and your push notification token and notification subscriptions.
Data that may be retained after a deletion request: aggregated and anonymized analytics that are not linked to your device identifier; and information we are required to keep to comply with legal obligations or to prevent fraud and abuse. Anonymized analytics data is retained for up to 14 months by our analytics provider.
Push Notifications
We send push notifications only for spots you explicitly choose to follow by tapping "Notify Me When Open." You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or by unfollowing spots within the app.
Children's Privacy
SoonSpot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
Your Choices
- Location: You can disable location access in your device settings at any time, or grant approximate location instead of precise. SoonSpot works either way; you can always type an address by hand instead of using your location.
- Push notifications: You can disable notifications in your device settings.
- Data deletion: Email hello@soonspot.com to request deletion of your data. See Data Retention & Deletion for details.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above.
